Training to Save Lives: Why Disaster Management Response Training Is Crucial for Nepal

Nepal, a country of breathtaking mountains, mighty rivers, and rich cultural heritage, is also one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world. Earthquakes, floods, landslides, and extreme weather events regularly impact thousands of lives across the country. In such a fragile terrain and climate, the key to saving lives isn't just about reacting—it's about preparing.

That’s why Sanepa Swastha Sanstha and Initiative Outdoor are proud to present a 10-day Disaster Management Response Training, taking place in Kurintar and Lamatar from February 3–13, 2025.

Led by Chandra Ale, a professional disaster response instructor with over 30 years of experience, this training is not just another course—it’s a mission. Participants will gain hands-on experience in swift water rescue, wilderness first aid, ropework, and disaster response, empowering them to act decisively when every second counts.

Why This Training Matters for Nepal

Nepal’s vulnerability to natural disasters is well-documented, but what’s often overlooked is the lack of trained first responders in remote and rural areas. During past disasters, too many lives were lost—not only because of the events themselves, but due to delayed response and a lack of proper training among volunteers.

This program addresses that gap directly. Through internationally certified training by SOLO Wilderness Medicine and Sierra Rescue International, we’re not only building individual capacity—we're creating a national network of skilled, community-based first responders.

These are the people who will be first on the scene during a landslide, flood, or emergency in a remote village. They are the difference between chaos and coordination, between loss and survival.

Be prepared. Save lives. Make a difference.
