LANGTANG TREK

Ending at: Khangjung

Himalayan sights:

Langtang valley is aptly called the Valley of Glaciers; mountains rise soaring toward the sky. Religious practicesin the area as well as languages and dress are much similar to those of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Commence with an overland journey to Syabrubesi which is a few hours’ drive from Kathmandu. The Trek follows the ragging Langtang River across the dense forests of Langtang National Park which eventually leads to Langtang Village and Kyangjing Gompa.

Attraction of the Trek:

Langtang Valley is greatly influenced by Tibetan lifestyle; locals are also of Tibetan origin. Varieties of Rhododendron, majestic waterfalls, bamboo forests, snow-capped mountains and serene landscapes make for a diverse experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1450 m.) – 8 hours drive
Day 2: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2480 m.) – 6 to 7 hours walk
Day 3: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3541 m.) – 5 to 6 hours walk
Day 4: Langtang to  Kyangjing Gompa (3900 m.) – 3 hours walk
Day 5: Day hike and back to Kyangjing Gompa
Day 6: Kyangjin Gompa to Langtang Village (3541 m.)  – 3 hours walk
Day 7: Langtang Village to Lama Hotel (2480 m.) – 4 hours walk
Day 8: Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi via Sherpa Gaun (3000 m) and Khangjung  – 5 to 6 hours walk
Day 9: Drive back to Kathmandu by local bus
